Born in southern Ohio and relocated to Chester, Virginia at the age of ten, Chandler ran away at 18, joined the Navy and saw the world.  Following twelve-and-half years of service, he settled in Norfolk, graduating from Old Dominion University in 1995 with a BA in American history. He currently finds himself back in Richmond after a seven year road trip covering nine states with two of the last three years in the birthplace of rock and roll and the home of blues: Memphis, Tennessee.  This was a home where he could walk out on his balcony on a warm summer's night and hear the outdoor musicians on Beale Street.  Chandler has enjoyed print publication in several different books and magazines.

Some of the bands he has photographed over the past four years include, in no particular order but their own (deep breath now): Amy LaVere, Blues Traveler, Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Drive-By Truckers, Edward Sharp & the Magnetic Zeros, Flesh Mountain Boys, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, Hillbilly Casino, Jeff Beck, Kaleidoscope, Lucero, Mouserocket, North Mississippi All-Stars, Organ Thief, Preston Shannon, Ruth Foster, Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings, Tora Tora, University of Memphis Faculty Jazz Band, Victor Wainwright & the Wildroots, Widespread Panic, and Zoogma, (inhale). 

"I was fortunate in Memphis to meet Catrina Guttery from the Memphis Music Foundation who basically--through her introductions--handed me the keys to a lot of doors.  Allowing me the opportunity to meet and photograph a large number of bands live, in the studio, and backstage. Without her prodding I'd still be shooting plants and such." His current tally stands at 271 bands documented through his lens, and that tally grows weekly.
